David is a 3 year old male presenting to the ED with symptoms of abdominal cramping, and watery diarrhea for 12 hours. Upon physical examination the patient appears lethargic, has diffuse abdominal tenderness, and has dry mucous membranes. While examining the patient he has a bowel movement of watery diarrhea that is grossly bloody. The mother is unable to state when the patient's last urine output occurred. The patient's laboratory work up reveals a H&H of 7 and 18. The patient is in acute kidney failure and has a low platelet count. What pathogen do you suspect?
