The cotton gin was a machine responsible for a significant amount of change in American society. This machine made it so that seeds could be picked from cotton at a much faster rate. This cotton gin lead to increased productivity on Southern plantations and also increased the amount of slaves exchanged between slave owners through the domestic slave trade.
