-2(x+14)+1=15

distribute

-2x - 14 + 1 = 15

add 14 to each side

-2x + 1 = 29

subtract one from each side

-2x = 28

divided by -2

x = -14

First, distribute -2 into x and 14.

-2x-28+1=5

Combine like terms.

-2x-27=5

Add 27 to both sides.

-2x=32
