While I completely understand FOIL in the context of polynomials and such, and generally understand it when multiplying by a complex conjugate - I am still having trouble understanding where these numbers are coming from.

Looking for a very dumbed down explanation of FOIL in this instance (multiplying radicals in division by complex conjugate). A good answer to me would consistent of drawing out what is being multiplied by what in divisor and dividends.

All help is appreciated. Thank you!

You need to divide what's on top first then what's on the bottom. After that you need to do the am to the other side. Then multiply them together

Divide what’s on the top and bottom then do same thing to the other side and then multiple it
