Laws that were passed because of Upton Sinclair´s work are the Pure Food and Drugs Act of 1906 which regulated additives to the food and prohibited misleading labels of food and drugs; and the Meat Inspection Act of 1906. Both were in great part the influence of Sinclair´s "The Jungle" which describes the meat packing industry at the time.
