The animation covers the the period 1206 to 1294, starting with the founding of the Mongol empire by Genghis Khan, his death in 1227, through to the rule of his grandson Kublai Khan (1260--1294) and the breakup of the empire into four Khanates - The Golden Horde, Chagatai Khanate, Ilkhanate and the Yuan Dynasty
