Some of the long term results that occurred because of the U.S. victory over Spain was that the United States overtook Hawaii in order accomplish what they deemed was "saving the people from the barbaric monarchy". This later caused Spain to give up the Philippines to the United States for a measly $20 million. Which the U.S accepted but were still met with violent resistance from the people.
