I’m pretty sure it was economics because after the purchase it gave the United States more power in economics. It helped the United States expand there land. The purchase the United States made caused it the economy to boost substantially. This included many agriculture opportunities for more farm land and Forrest to be discovered. Since the land they purchased was rich with resources it helped the United States economy
