a lot of posters that recruited for the armed forces would use phrases like “we need YOU” to target individual people into thinking they were specifically needed to fight for their country or things like “the women of (country) say GO” to make them believe it was a great deal to not only them but to the women. it wouldn’t show them the terrible conditions that they’d have to endure and the atrocious things they’d have to witness, it was just what the government wanted them to know
