Some of the genres in film like action, horror, and other genres wouldn't work because they wouldn't have the same elements if they were acted in front of a live audience. While some theater genres, take farce for example, would not have the same elements if they were recorded for a film either. You can take tragedy from one genre to another though, as it is flexible enough to be changed.
