Many Japanese chose to serve the U.S. in World War II because they felt it was a way to repay them. Japanese Americans were at one time imigrints coming into the United States with little supplies and a dream or two. They found freedom in America, and because they were so thankful to find a place truly free, they fought for the U.S.

Many Japanese Americans chose to serve in World War II because by doing so, they could prove their loyalty to the United States as well as bring honor to their families. For example, the 442nd Regimental Combat team was made up of Japanese-Americans who fought in the Italian peninsula and across southern France. The 442nd regiment became known to be the most decorated regiment in the US military; thus not only proving their loyalty, but bringing honor to their family. Another example is when Japanese-Americans served in the US Army's Intelligence Sector as translators and interrogators during World War II. Most Americans, during the time, did not read or speak Japanese. This meant that even if Americans acquired documents and interrogated Japanese people successfully, Americans would be at a loss as they could not interpret the information efficiently and properly. Japanese-Americans were able to prove their loyalty to the United States by helping the US with what they couldn't do efficiently, greatly helping war efforts.
