Cold war was a tension between two superpowers namely America and Soviet union. They were divided into two superpowers block American bloc and Soviet bloc following the democratic capitalistic system and Authoritarian socialistic system respectively.

Main features of cold war -

  1. Cold war was a struggle between USA and USSR for supremacy.
  2. the fact , cold war was a fight for supremacy between two ideologies capitalism and communism.
  3. during cold war , both the super powers had tried to include newly independent countries of Asia , Africa , and latin America into their respective blocs and for this purpose both the superpowers had given economic & military support to these countries.
  4. cold war was not hot war , rather it was a fight of words and both the superpowers had fired for the arrows of words against each other.
  5. during cold war , both of them entered into alliances and counter - alliances with the purpose to spread their influence.
  6. During cold war , both superpowers kept strengthening themselves through propaganda, secret services, and alliances.
  7. During cold war , both the superpowers maintain diplomatic relations and never allowed an opportunity to break their diplomatic relations.
  8. the weapons race became very fast as every country was in the race to collect more weapons.
  9. the cold war was based on the principle than that if you want peace , be prepared for war therefore both blocs always remained prepared for war
  10. during cold war , the international relations were based on doubt and mistrust. Both the superpowers were suspicious of each other and were of the opinion that their opponent was always planning to harm them.
