The correct answer is A. The micronucleus regulates reproduction and the macronucleus regulates the vegetative functions in paramecium.

Paramecium is a unicellular, eukaryotic aquatic protist. Due to its shape similar to bathroom slipper, it is referred to  slipper-shaped organism. Its body is covered with short hair like structures called cilia. Each paramecium possesses two types of nuclei, micronucleus and macronucleus. The micronucleus is diploid and smaller in size containing all the DNA, whereas macronucleus is polyploid and larger in size. It divides without mitosis. Micronucleus involves in reproduction and macronucleus is the center for non-reproductive activities such as metabolism.
