On Monday David travels m miles. On Tuesday he travels 35 more than he did on Monday. On Wednesday he travels a total of twice the distance he travelled Monday. Work out and expression of the total distance he travels during the three days

m + (m + 35) + (2m)
Now add the terms
4m + 35
In this case (m+ 35) equals Tuesday because it is 35 more than Monday. (2m) equals Wednesday because it it twice as much as Monday is. Now we don't know the amount of distance for Monday so we just leave it like that
Again the ANSWER IS 4m + 35
