The persons who I know that are model environmental citizens all:

  • Consider themselves an integral part of the environment'
  • Care for the environment
  • Have a sense of responsibility towards the environment

What is Environmental Citizenship?

This refers to the idea that a person is connected to his environment and as such considers themselves to be integral ad believe that their future is dependent on their care of their environment.

With this in mind, we can see that the three attributes described by Dobson and Bell are:

  • The idea that we are an integral part of our environment,
  • The recognition that our future is dependent upon the way in which we care for our own environment.
  • The sense of responsibility that engenders positive action on behalf of the environment.
