For this case we can do the following:

[tex]\tan M=\frac{\sin M}{\cos M}=\frac{\text{opposite}}{\text{adjacent}}[/tex]

For this case the opposite side is 8 and the adjacent is 6 so we got:

[tex]\tan M=\frac{8}{6}=\frac{4}{3}[/tex]
