Abdul has bought 18 pounds of dog food. He feeds his dog 2/3 pound each meal. For how many meals will this last?Write your answer in simplest form.

1) We can solve this problem by setting a proportion. Note that each meal Abdul needs to serve about 0.66 lbs.

2) Assuming Abdul will not change the amount of dog food, we can divide the total amount by each serving:

[tex]\frac{18}{\frac{2}{3}}=18\times\frac{3}{2}=9\times3=27\:[/tex]

3) Hence, with 18 lbs Abdul can feed his dog 27 meals.
