The corollary to the side-splitter theorem is the following.

If we have two transversal lines to three parallel lines, like this:

The following proportion holds:

[tex]\frac{AB}{BC}=\frac{DE}{EF}[/tex]

Therefore, the corollary relates the sides of the figure and not the distance between the transversal. Therefore, the corollary can't be used to determine the value of "x".
