Equation of a Line, given two points.
The point-slope equation of a line is:
y - k = m/x-h)
Where m is the slope of the line and the line passes through the point (h,k)
There are several points clearly marked in the graph. Let's select two of them (0,4) and (2,0)
First, compute the slope with the formula:
[tex]m=\frac{y_2-y_1}{x_2-x_1}[/tex]
Substituting:
[tex]m=\frac{0-4}{2-0}=\frac{-4}{2}=-2[/tex]
Selecting the point (0,4), we write the equation of the line:
y - 4 = -2(x - 0)
Operating:
y = -2x + 4
