There are layers in ocean or sea floor where other living things subsides. Mostly, living things subside at the top most or the second layer because they are also in need of light. But the term describe in the last statement where only few living things live on it is the abyssopelagic layer. It is the layer where it only receives nothing but darkness and the only few creatures living there are the deep sea creatures.
