In order to de-escalate the situation while waiting for a psychiatric nurse, the nurse that is present should approach the client with an Empathetic Response. This enforces a level or understanding, sincerity, and validation. It is more likely to help develop truth and comfort that will help build and maintain a therapeutic relationship.
