by (1) : x +y = 9
y = 9 - x

x( 9 - x ) = 20
-x² +9x = 20
x² -9x +20 = 0
(x-4)(x-5) = 0
x-4=0 or x -5 =0
x=4 or x= 5
if : x = 4 y = 9-4 =5 ....refused because : x > y
if : x= 5 y = 9-5 = 4
conclusion :
he length is : 5 feet and the width is : 4 feet
