The Delian League is an alliance of Greek city-states led by the Athenians to continue fighting the Persian Empire. However, the Athenians proceeded to lead the league acquiring members by extortion and forcing members to stay in the league. This led to the 465 B.C.E. Rebellion on the island of Thasos.
