Harri, Salim and Luke are playing a game with marbles.
Harri has some marbles.
Salim has three times as many marbles as Harri.
Luke has 4 marbles less than Salim.
In total they have 52 marbles.
the number of marbles Harri has : the number of marbles Luke has = 1: p
Work out the value of p.

Respuesta :

Let, Harri has “x” no. of marbles
Therefore, salim has “3x” marbles
And, luke has “3x-4” marbles

Total marbles= 52
Therefore, x + (3x) + (3x-4) = 52
7x-4 =52
7x = 52+4
7x = 56
X= (56/7)
X = 8

Therefore, harri has 8 marbles
Salim has 8*3 = 24 marbles
Luke has 24-4 =20 marbles

Harri:luke = 8:20 = 1 : 2.5

If 1:p = 1:2.5
Hence, p= 2.5
