If 40% are bananas, then 60% are apples. 60% as a multiplier is (60/100)=0.6
So 120×0.6=72 apples

To find out the amount of apples there are, all you have to do is multiply the total amount of fruits (120) by the percentage of the amount of apples in decimal form. 60% is 0.6 in decimal form. 120 * 0.6 is 72. There are 72 apples.
