Mary has 7 feet of fabric. she cuts off 1/4 foot of fabric to make the edge even. Mary wants 3 pieces of fabric that are the same width. how wide will each piece be ?

After making edges even, she has 7 feet -1/4 feet=6 3/4 feet.
Each piece will have a width of
6 3/4 ÷ 3
= (6÷3+ 3/4 ÷3) feet
= 2 1/4 feet
