(2 x 8) - 3 = ?
16 - 3 = 13
13 = number of points scored by Benito.
2 times 8 would be two even the amount of points Carnell scored. Then we subtract 3 because Benito scored 3 less than that amount. This would leave us with 13 points scored for Benito.
