Impeachment is used to describe when charges of misconduct are brought against an officer of the government. The power to impeach is in the hands of the Congress. The result of impeachment may include removal of the official from his/ her current position in the government and may face legal charges afterwards. The process of impeachment is long and tiring considering that it involves a lot of official process just to bring the accusation to the Congress then investigation follows.
